Shepherd successful at Euro Nitro Series Rd 3 in Austria. The third race of the world-famous racing series for nitro onroad cars was held past weekend in Aigen, Austria.

In the 1/8 class Simon Kurzbuch made a clean sweep taking TQ and also the win. The 45-minute A-main saw Simon and Bruno Coelho pulling away with the rest of the field involved into heavy-contact battles for position. Coming out of this best was Shepherd’s Lars Hoppe finding himself in third position after some minutes although his steering servo-horn was bend.

In the front Simon steadily extended his lead while Bruno suffered a flame-out which costed him about a lap. The remaining race saw no changes at the front as Simon’s pit-crew did a perfect job during refueling and tire-change not giving Bruno any option to make up the lost time. Lars Hoppe drove a clean and fast final until the end and took the final podium spot.
Team Shepherd driver Michael Kammer and Timo Schröder - who both bumped up from the B-main – had some difficulties. Timo ran out of fuel as he didn’t hear his pit crew calling him in and Michael’s gurney-flap came loose after some contact with another car.
The Championship standings after Rd3 are showing Simon and Bruno on equal points which postpones the decission of the overall championship to the last race in Fiorano (Italy) in October.

In the 1/10 class Thilo Tödtmann achieved his best ENS result ever by taking the runner-up spot. As the new surface has very little wear Thilo chose to change just the outside tyres which saved valuable time during the tyre change. Still with a good gap over the third placed driver after the tyre change he controlled the gap and managed to cross the finishing line in second position. With this result Thilo made a big step forward in the overall championship standings and is ranked in 2nd position now.

Young Melvin Diekmann also showed a good performance and started the main final from 4th position. Unfortunately engine trouble costed him any chance for a good result.
Experienced Gerhard Kandelhart showed his skills and made his comeback to the A-main with a good 6th place in qualifying. He drove a steady race and opted not to change the tyres resulting in a 4th place after 45min.

Furthermore the Austrian Shepherd duo of Franz Engel and Christoph Rohrmoser made their first ever A-main appearance. Franz finished the race in 6th position while Christoph ended up 9th.

With nine cars in total Shepherd was the most represented brand in both A-mains combined.

Congratulation to all trophy winners and see you in Italy for the final round.
