ORCAN wins 2014 Singapore Open and XRAY Challenge Korea!

I attended two events in Asia in May. The first race was in Singapore, at their very big, high speed track next to the seaside. Many entries joined the race with top drivers from Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

My NT1 was working very well but in the last qualifying round I had a flame out issue which awarded ORCAN team driver Nicholas Lee the TQ spot, just 1.5 seconds in front of me. We both were much faster than the competing drivers. It seemed like we would race it out for the win on Sunday. Unfortunately, Nicholas hit mechanical problems in his semi final which put him out of contention.

I had better luck in my semi final which awarded me the pole position for the main 45 minute final. In the final, my car and engine was working perfectly. I was able to push really hard and build up a strong 5 lap gap which lasted until the very last minute of the race. A little bit too lean engine setting caused the engine to flame out. It cost me two laps but I was still able to win the race with a big margin.

My ORCAN RS engine in combination with the new ORCAN 2668 muffler provided excellent performance all throughout the weekend. I was using the Novarossi 7TGF glow plug, and had no glow plug breakages at all.

The following weekend I travelled to Seoul, Korea where I would attend an XRAY Challenge race at the Kirina circuit, one hour away from the main city. The track was fairly small, and traction was medium to low. I chose to use my ORCAN GT3-C MH for this track, in combination with the 2654 muffler. I was using a very short gear ratio to cope with the small track layout. I had excellent power at this race at well and was able to TQ qualifying, with 16 seconds down to the 2nd placed driver. I was also able to win the 30 minute final with ease, without any problems. It was a great time in Asia with two great wins and perfect performance from all my ORCAN products.
